Wichita, KS Family Session Full of Love, Laughter, and Flowers
There’s something so special about photographing families outdoors, especially right at the end of summertime. Kids get to run, parents get to relax, and the whole experience feels less like a photoshoot and more like a memory in the making. This recent family session at a local flower farm was the perfect example of just that.
Not only did we capture the sweetest family moments, but we also celebrated a six-month milestone for their baby girl. Six months is such a fun age — all the smiles, chubby hands reaching for flowers, and a personality starting to shine through! She was ready for her spotlight, and every member of the family had so much fun together.
Why the Flower Farm Was the Perfect Backdrop
This family wanted something unique and natural, so we chose a fresh pick flower farm just outside of Wichita. The setting was magical: rows of blooms, golden evening light, and plenty of space for the kids to explore and run. One of the best parts? During the session, the family got to cut and take home their own bouquets as part of the experience. It made the day feel even more memorable — and those flowers looked amazing in their home, too!
This family loves the outdoors, fresh blooms, and they really enjoyed the memories of this special day, so it was really perfect for them. I love to pick a location that really speaks to the individuals and families that I get to work with, to help tell their unique stories.
Capturing Candid Family Moments
With four kids, the key is always to keep things fun and relaxed. Instead of stiff poses, we focused on movement and connection — walking through the flower rows, picking blooms together, giggling in the grass, and of course, a few snuggly family shots. The result? Photos that feel genuine and full of joy.
This location gave us the prettiest backdrop, and gave the kids (and parents) a perfect chance to relax, enjoy a special activity together, and make sweet memories with each other. This flower farm is also on a beautiful piece of land and has horses, ducks, cats, and dogs all around — which the boys really enjoyed too!
As a Wichita family photographer, I’ll definitely be coming back here many times next spring and summer with my outdoorsy families. It’s currently under small renovations to make the space even more inviting, and I can’t wait to visit it again! A Special Milestone Worth Remembering
We also carved out time to highlight their baby girl turning six months old. She was absolutely adorable sitting among the flowers, grabbing at petals, and even tasting a flower or two…spoiler: she did not like the taste! Including milestone photos within a family session is such a wonderful way to celebrate your little one while still capturing the whole family together. Most of the session was family focussed, enjoying time together amongst the flowers, with the perfect amount of time to document this sweet lady’s milestone. Her mama picked out the most adorable vintage lace dress that paired just perfectly with this setting at sunset. I mean, could it get any sweeter than that??
